#BATMAN MADNESS Spotted All Over The World!!

Here’s a fun post I like to do every now and then that represents the love of the BATMAN character as seen all over the world. Here at the BAT-BLOG we sometimes get some fan mail from people in other countries (Yes, I totally love that!). Here are some wonderful examples.

First up is this really great photo from a sweet girl named Stephane. She recently attended a fair event in Rouen, France and came across this BATMOBILE Ride! Oh man, how cool is that?!

Next up is a group shot from some cosplay friends in the Netherlands. This was at a Comic Con event and they all dressed-up as Batman-related Villains! We got Harley Quinn, The Joker, Red Hood, Deathstroke, and a nice variety of Riddler Cosplayers.

Yes, I guess the Riddler is extremely popular there but they all look great! Hey, what’s that X-Men Girl doing in the shot? Ha Ha, oh well, she is pretty cute though so I’ll let it slide.

Now, last but not least, is a series of pics showing some amazing BATMAN TATTOO ART that was done in the UK. Yes, England! Here, you can see many different angles of this “sleeve” and we get Batman, The Joker, Scarecrow and Two-Face. They’re all extremely well done and the attention to detail is awesome. Now, I usually like to list the Tattoo Artist and the name of the person who got the bat-tat done, but like an idiot, I have totally lost all that information. So, I apologize to them right now but I gotta add that these tattoos look super-great!

Funko’s Hikari Metaluna Mutant is out of this world

Funko unveiled its Hikari Metaluna Mutant (of This Island Earth fame, which you may have seen on Mystery Science Theater 3000) on Halloween (what, no Hikari Dracula?). Limited to a good-sized 1,500 pieces, the Metaluna Mutant is available in a slightly metallic version of its normal colors and is currently listed for pre-order.

While the Metaluna Mutant is apparently part of Universal Studios’ gallery of monsters, it’s a character whom I hadn’t seen prior before DST released some collectibles not that long ago. The general monster design is all kinds of goofy but Funko has rendered it surprisingly cute. In fact, this may be the first time I’ve used cute (rather than cool) to describe a Hikari soft vinyl figure.

Funko’s Hikari Metaluna Mutant can be pre-ordered for around US$50 and is slated for a January release. As always, you can win one through Funko’s Facebook contest. Fans of the character may be happy to know (or remember) that he also appears in Funko’s Scifi Mystery Minis series (which are also out of this world).

#BATMAN IN THE ART WORLD – Actor John Malkovich Channels His Inner-JOKER!

In the Ultra-Serious Fine Art World right now there’s something happening which is causing quite a buzz. The Actor John Malkovich teamed-up with a Photographer named Sandro Miller and their goal has been to create a show called, “MALKOVICH, MALKOVICH, MALKOVICH, HOMAGE TO PHOTOGRAPHIC MASTERS”.

Yes, they are reproducing extremely famous and very iconic works of art using John Malkovich as the model. Many of them are instantly recognizable and quite funny!

The show opens at the CATHERINE EDELMAN GALLERY on November 7th, 2014, and will run until January 31st, 2015. For more details, and to see way more of this kick ass artwork, just click the Gallery name up above.

Now, how does this relate to “Batman”? Well, one set of photos they decided to parody is the famous pics shot by the Fashion Photographer, Herb Ritts, of Jack Nicholson as “the Joker” from the 1989 BATMAN Movie.

This was a famous photo shoot even back then. For reference I’m showing one of the “Jack Nicholson” pics down below.

The toy department grows up with Target and Funko’s Collector’s World

Target stores nation wide are giving us figure collector’s a new reason to hit the toy department. They’re teaming up with Funko to make the Collector’s World, an end cap in the toy section featuring Funko products of all shapes and sizes. And over in the trading card section you can find Pocket Pop! keychains among other things.

But this isn’t just Funko setting up shop at Target, they’re also bringing along some exclusives. Available at Target stores will be the 2014 convention exclusive Game of Thrones Tyrion Lannister Legacy Figure with battle damaged head sculpt and helmet. And  for Pop! they’ve got an exclusive unmasked Batman figure!

I’m sure many of us don’t need an excuse to walk into a toy department, but it’s always nice to see collectors taken seriously.
