Tsume’s Orochimaru snakes it way into pre-orders

Tsume-Art’s newest Naruto: Shippuden Xtra figure is upon us, and it’s the villainous Orochimaru! Technically, it’s a DXtra figure, as it includes a summoned giant snake on the base as well. He’s in 1/10-scale (18 cm) with the other figures in the line, and certainly has a sinister look about him.

If you want to pick him up, you can grab him on pre-order for €64.90, with a ship date of July 2015.

Pre-orders begin for Kotobukiya’s gorgeous Cardcaptor Sakura

I was too excited for words when Kotobukiya announced they’d be adding Sakura Kinomoto to their ARTFX J line back at Wonder Festival. Now the first part of the waiting process is over, as she’s up for pre-order alongside a batch of delightful promo shots.

Needless to say I love everything about this – great pose, incredible detail (all those ruffles!) and a delightful paintjob. She’s even got a nicely unique look due to being based on manga art rather than the anime design. A little chubbier in the face, a little more extravagant with the hair, it’s a good way to make the figure stand out from the increasing hoard of Cardcaptor Sakura merchandise that’s descending upon us.

At ¥11,000 Sakura isn’t on the cheap side, but Kotobukiya has a reputation of delivering high quality stuff and it’s certainly a price I’m willing to pay. If you’re with me, hit the links below to ensure Sakura comes winging to your door in April of next year.

Start saving coins, Nendoroid Mario pre-orders have begun

It’s only been a few months since Nendoroid Mario was announced back at Wonder Festival 2014 (Summer), but it feels like a year! The wait will still continue for a while longer before he’s released in May 2015, but at least we’re now another step closer. Pre-orders for Mario opened today and he won’t be coming empty handed. Far from it. Despite a somewhat average price of ¥4,167 for a Nendoroid he’s coming packed with accessories!

Mario will be coming along with two expressions (open and closed mouth smile), an oversize green base (with a buch of stand arms), special hands, blocks, coin, backdrop, super mushroom, and special leg parts made to look like he’s either jumping or making a quick stop complete with effect part. Best of all is the crossed arm parts, not just for himself but for Luigi, too! Plus it’s not just Mario in the box, he’ll be joined by a Boo and Buzzy Beetle as well! The backdrop will be more than just free standing card as it’ll also come with its own supports that can suspend the blocks to make them look like they’re floating in the air.

I feel like the only thing missing is a kart. Kahotan also has photos on the GSC blog that you can see mirrored in the gallery. You can’t get your hands on one just yet, but reserving one now will make sure you have one in May. If you order through the Good Smile shop you’ll also get another three coins, but you’ll be paying a lot for something kinda small like that. Now I have to assume there’s at least one more figure on the way just because Mario and Luigi come with a Goomba, Bullet Bill, Buzzy Beetle, and Boo, but no Koopa Troopa. So, who will come with the Nendo Koopa?

S.H. Figuarts Cardcaptor Sakura flies to pre-orders

Bandai certainly don’t waste any time do they? Just a shade over two weeks after the company revealed the existence of S.H. Figuarts Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura, she’s now up for pre-order at all your favourite internet stores.

You’re looking at a relatively standard set of packed in accessories for Sakura – three faces (happy, shouting, smiling), a bunch of interchangeable hands, her staff and a corresponding Clow Card, and of course the all important mini figure of Kero. It’s a solid package, although I suspect a few people were hoping that the price would be a little bit lower than the ¥5,000 listed. Still, if you’re liking what you see hit those links to get your pre-order in before Sakura soars into your homes next March.

Pre-orders start for First 4 Figures’ Dr. Robotnik statue

Last October, First 4 Figures asked fans what pose they wanted their Eggman/Dr. Robotnik statue to be cast in. Well, as it turns out, the open-armed, manically laughing pose won the poll, and First 4 Figures have produced a new statue based off that pose. Furthermore, he’s up for pre-order starting today on First 4’s shop.

Beyond the post, the 22-inch tall Robotnik statue (which according to First 4, puts him to-scale with the other Sonic line pieces) has two additional, Chaos Emerald-holding hands as optional parts. The base is based off the platforms from Sonic 2‘s Wing Fortress Zone, and I think he looks pretty darn awesome.

The First 4 Robotnik is limited to 1,000 pieces and priced at US$399.99, with a 2nd quarter of 2015 ship date.

D-Style Optimus Prime assembles its pre-orders

It was way back in February at Wonder Festival 2014 Winter that Kotobukiya made a small announcement that Optimus Prime would be joining their D-Style line of super deformed robot model kits. It was only a matter of time as the line was already largely made up of popular Takara Tomy lines like Zoids and Brave saga so Transformers seemed bound to join the mix eventually. They even recently announced the inclusion of Megatron, but right now the spotlight is on Prime.

The kit looks great, at least when it’s built and painted by a professional it does. I’m a little concerned about how the seams on the arms and legs will look built straight from the box, but checking some shots of other D-style kits completed online I don’t think they’ll be too bad. His colors are easy to separate so if all goes right only a minimum amount of paint will be needed to really make him look good.

The little guy has some neat features like an opening chest with the Matrix inside, some interchangeable hands, his iconic canon, energon ax and a mini version of his semi truck vehicle mode. The figure is scheduled to be released in January at price of ¥3,204. At first I was on the fence about getting him, but with the low export prices I couldn’t resist the temptation. The slippery slope begins as I know I’m going to want Megatron as well and who knows how far this line will go?
