Perfect Grade Gundam Unicorn coming this December

It’s the kit that everyone said they wanted when they learned what they could do. The gimmicks for the Perfect Grade line made people dream of what the Unicorn could be if they were to do it. Yes, it’s finally coming this December and it won’t be as much as people thought.

Let’s get to the gimmicks. It will be fully transformable, going from Unicorn to Destroy modes. Just as with the Master Grade editions, the psycoframe parts will be UV reactive, but now will have the added bonus of an additional LED set. It’s what everyone wanted and now it’s coming.

The hobby mags this month didn’t have a December Master Grade, which follows the pattern of the PG releases. This is the first completely new PG since the 00 Raiser, which was four years ago. Thankfully, this kit will also be cheaper than the 00 Raiser, retailing for ¥21,600. The additional LED unit package will cost ¥12,960. The total package is quite the cost, but I’m glad they’re at least giving the option of the LEDs.

December was getting a bit crowded for me, but I’m excited by a PG Unicorn a lot more than what else was coming out that month. I know what I’ll be doing for my vacation this year.

All Of Spider-Man’s Costumes In One Perfect Infographic (Evolution 2) 1962 to 2014 latest

Seems like one infographic (see earlier post) is not enough to cover all of Spider-Man’s costumes over the years.

The spectacular Spider-Man’s full-body spandex suit is one of the most iconic superhero outfits ever designed. Even so, the writers and artists who have told his story for more than 50 years have tinkered with it now and again. The web-slinging wall crawler has worn black, white and armored suits — even a ruffled collar.

Mild-mannered Peter Parker hasn’t always worn the tights, but the bug eyes, web shooters and commitment to justice remain the same (usually).

As Spidey swings back into theaters this weekend in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the hero has a brand-new suit with a few tweaks since his last outing. Check out 24 of his classic looks from the comic book page and the big screen below. (source: Mashable)

Zelda and Pokemon monopoly sets perfect for when you’re ‘board’ and want to game

There must be some unwritten rule asserting that if it exists then eventually it will receive its own version of Monopoly. Although it seems that just about everything has been covered, the list of whatever-is-left has shrunk once again with the Legend of Zelda franchise getting its first Monopoly set while Pokemon will be receiving its SECOND Monopoly set (see the first here). Before anybody accuses Pokemon of monopolizing these things, bear in mind that about five hundred Pokemon have been added since that first Monopoly game.

Only the packaging images are available thus far (see gallery) although both sets are slated to release mid-August. They can be pre-ordered for around US$40 apiece, coincidentally the same MSRP as The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Pokemon X/Y (I’m not saying, but I’m just saying…). Oh well, it might be a good cure for “boardom”.

Volpin Props creates perfect model of the Planet Express from Futurama

Harrison Krix of Volpin Props recently shared an in-depth look into how he created his latest project, a model replica of The Planet Express from Futurama. The finished project looks phenomenal! This model looks like it came straight from the screen of your TV, that’s how detailed and realistic it looks.

Posted in two parts, Krix meticulously shows how he took his idea and created it step by step. It’s a really great guide if you want to learn more about the process it takes to make a model. There’s even a time lapse video showing how the ship was assembled.

The only bad thing about this is that the model can’t be bought, so I can’t yell, “Shut up and take my money!”

Perfect Posing Products Maka Albarn eats up pre-orders

A little earlier this month, Medicom Toy revealed that they’d be starting up a new range of high-end static PVC figures dubbed ‘Perfect Posing Products’, with Soul Eater‘s Maka Albarn the first entrant into the line. Now on Christmas Eve she’s up and ready to order at all your favourite present-acquiring outlets.

M y stance on Maka here hasn’t changed – I think she looks absolutely fantastic, and it’s a treat for Soul Eater fans to finally get a killer figure of their heroine. It’s also an impressive looking debut for Medicom’s new line, though of course, the proof will be in the final product. If you’re ready to jump onboard, Maka will cost a very reasonable ¥9,000 and slash her way into your homes next July.

Medicom starts Perfect Posing Products with Maka Albarn

Medicom Toy has ruled the roost in large scale poseable anime figures for quite some time now, thanks to their rather excellent Real Action Heroes range. Now though they’re looking to turn their undoubted talents to something a bit smaller and more affordable, as the company announces the creation of a new range of static PVC figures dubbed Perfect Posing Products.

To open the range, they’ve decided to produce this very striking 1/8 figure of Soul Eater‘s heroine Maka Albarn, complete with cape and scythe. I’ve got to say, this is a fantastic looking way to kick off, with an underrepresented character, a dynamic pose and some great looking detail – check out the boots and the way that coat flutters in the wind. I’ve never been into Soul Eater but I really like the look of this figure and that’s about the best start to a new range you can get.

Thee announcement was accompanied by the news that she’ll cost an expensive-but-still-reasonable 9,000, with orders set to begin on December 24th and an eventual release date of July next year. Combined with the release of the new anime series Soul Eater Not!, I imagine today is a good day for fans out there. And while I may not be into the show, I’m into great looking figures, and this is definitely one of those.
