DC COMICS SUPERHERO WOMEN New Rock Candy Figures by #FUNKO

Everybody’s favorite toy company, Funko, has plans later in the year to release a brand-new toy line called “Rock Candy”. These will be highly stylized versions of the “girl” superhero characters from the world of DC Comics. These figures are about 5″ tall.

In the first wave it looks like they’re gonna make two versions of Batgirl (I love the “Silver Age” one on the right), one Harley Quinn, one Supergirl, and two versions of Wonder Woman (Yes, the one on the left is the “Batman V Superman” movie version).

Knowing Funko, I’m sure they’re gonna go totally crazy with this and there will be MANY more characters. Stay tuned to the BAT-BLOG for more information once Funko releases it.

Review: DC Comics "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" 1:24 scale Metal Die-Cast Batmobile

“To the Batmobile!”

This was part of my haul from December 2016 posted on my toy blog HERE

The Batmobile is a state of the art all-terrain, self-powered, armored fighting motor vehicle used for vehicular hot pursuit, prisoner transportation, anti-tank warfare, riot control, and as a mobile crime lab. Kept in the Batcave, which it accesses through a hidden entrance, the heavily armoured, gadget-laden vehicle is used by Batman in his crime-fighting activities.

The Batmobile made its first appearance in Detective Comics #27 (May, 1939). Then a red sedan, it was simply referred to as “his car”. Soon it began featuring an increasingly prominent bat motif, typically including distinctive wing-shaped tailfins. Armored in the early stages of Batman’s career, it has been customized over time into a sleek armoured / supercar-hybrid, and is the most technologically advanced crime-fighting asset within Batman’s arsenal. Depictions of the vehicle has evolved along with the character, with each incarnation reflecting evolving car technologies. It has appeared in every Batman iteration—from comic books and television to films and video games—and has since gone on to be a part of pop culture.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Batmobile is said to be a combined inspiration from both the sleek, streamlined design of classic Batmobiles and the high-suspension, military build from the more recent Tumbler from The Dark Knight Trilogy. Designed by production designer Patrick Tatopoulos and Dennis McCarthy, the Batmobile is about 20 feet long and 12 feet wide. Unlike previous Batmobiles, it has a gatling gun sitting on the front and the back tires are shaved down tractor tires. The Batmobile elevates itself for scenes depicting it going into battle or when performing jumps, and lowers to the ground when cruising through the streets.

Jada Toys released this 1:24 die-cast model kit of the Batmobile from the 2016 movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Assembly was pretty straight-forward and hassle-free. It isn’t anything like the type of model kits released by Bandai where one really has to put every bit and piece together. Check out my recent toy blog post / review of the Bandai 1/6th scale Star Wars Stormtrooper Model Kit HERE. Now that’s a model kit.

In the upcoming film Justice League, Batman will have a new Batmobile called the Nightcrawler, which was designed by his father.

DC Comics #Batman: HARLEY QUINN Explained #BTAS

As a huge fan of “Batman: The Animated Series” I have always loved Harley Quinn. This character was actually invented in the cartoon first and then later became a fixture of the “comic book world”,

She is also about to be depicted in a new live-action movie, Suicide Squad, which I think is going to introduce her into a larger mass audience who is sort of unfamiliar with her origins.

So, this is the reason I chose to feature this “character history” video from Comic Explained. It gives a nice intro to her… Enjoy!

Kotobukiya Marvel Comics 1/6 scale Rogue – Danger Room Sessions – 12-inch Fine Art Statue

Kotobukiya’s amazing X-Men Danger Room Sessions Fine Art Statue series cannot be stopped! We’ve seen a variety of mutant heroes and even some reformed villains battling the holographic dangers in the X-Men training facility, and the latest fan-favorite character to enter the combat training facility is one of the most powerful mutants in existence, Rogue!

Born Anna Marie in Mississippi, the young girl’s mutant powers first manifested during a kiss with her childhood boyfriend. Suddenly she found herself absorbing his life energy, and subsequently ran away, taking the nickname Rogue in the process. When touching a mutant, she absorbs powers in addition to memories and skills, making her incredibly powerful and incredibly dangerous. During her early career she battled the current Ms. Marvel and seemingly absorbed her flight and super strength permanently.

A stalwart defender of X-Men and anyone in need of protection, Rogue embodies both power and beauty. The spirited mutant is captured in a great action pose, poised over the hand of a defeated Sentinel as she looks for the next threat. Flying over the wreckage, Rogue carries a piece of the trashed robot to use as a weapon (and a warning) to other foes. The mutant hero’s classic costume is beautifully recreated, with the bright green and yellow of the bodysuit standing out within her dark brown jacket. Always enthusiastic in the heat of battle, Rogue’s face is perfectly sculpted to show off her fighting spirit. As an added bonus you can display the X-Woman in either of two of her most popular looks from the comics with alternate portrait heads!

She has been a steadfast member of various X-Men teams for years, and of course that means she’s spent quite a bit of time in the Danger Room. Ever since the early days of Marvel Comics’ mutant adventures, “X” teams have trained together in the ultra high tech facility known as the Danger Room, equipped with state of the art adaptive combat and athletics routines that challenge each participant in unique ways. The training facility has been featured prominently in X-Men comics over the years, as well as in various cartoons and the third X-Men film.
Sculpted by the legendary Erick Sosa, Rogue stands nearly 12 inches tall and is perfectly in scale (1/6) with the other Danger Room Sessions members like Wolverine, Psylocke, Cyclops, and more. Rogue makes for an impressive display piece on her own and looks even better alongside other Marvel inspired Fine Art Statues from Kotobukiya!
As an added bonus you can display the X-Woman in either of two of her most popular looks from the comics with alternate portrait heads!

Available November 2015

And on a related topic, have you seen the 6 Porn Parody Costumes That Give Real Superhero Movies a Run for Their Money? Superheroes mean big business, and it seems like everyone is finding new ways to cash in. In the picture above, the Rogue on the left (from Wolverine XXX) has the quintessential colors and leather jacket that the Southern belle is seen wearing in the comic books whereas the Rogue in the X-Men films (played by Anna Paquin) looks nothing like Rogue at all.

In the picture above, Elizabeth Olsen’s updated Scarlet Witch (on the right) with combat boots and a penchant for black as seen in the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” looks nothing like the Wanda Maximoff we know from the comics. On the other hand, you can’t deny that the parody version on the left bears a more striking resemblance to the Scarlet Witch we are most familiar with. Same goes for her speedster brother, Quicksilver (see picture below). Not only is his costume true to the green version from the comics, the appropriate pose and elaborate lighting was used for the porn parody. He’s giving Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past) a real run for their money, costume-wise.

Then there are the girls from DC comics – Catwoman, Supergirl and Wonder Woman. Check out the porn parody versions on the left versus the film versions on the right. Which is more true to the comic books? Very interesting indeed.

Just some observations ;p I’m not saying you should check out the films LOL
