A few weeks later, it’s pouring down raining over the city, the thunder rumbles and the earth shakes above the tomb of Chicago… he’s back from the dead! And he is determined to seek revenge and to put to an end any shadow of a doubt to his murder!

Kotobukiya Marvel Comics 1/6 scale Rogue – Danger Room Sessions – 12-inch Fine Art Statue

Kotobukiya’s amazing X-Men Danger Room Sessions Fine Art Statue series cannot be stopped! We’ve seen a variety of mutant heroes and even some reformed villains battling the holographic dangers in the X-Men training facility, and the latest fan-favorite character to enter the combat training facility is one of the most powerful mutants in existence, Rogue!

Born Anna Marie in Mississippi, the young girl’s mutant powers first manifested during a kiss with her childhood boyfriend. Suddenly she found herself absorbing his life energy, and subsequently ran away, taking the nickname Rogue in the process. When touching a mutant, she absorbs powers in addition to memories and skills, making her incredibly powerful and incredibly dangerous. During her early career she battled the current Ms. Marvel and seemingly absorbed her flight and super strength permanently.

A stalwart defender of X-Men and anyone in need of protection, Rogue embodies both power and beauty. The spirited mutant is captured in a great action pose, poised over the hand of a defeated Sentinel as she looks for the next threat. Flying over the wreckage, Rogue carries a piece of the trashed robot to use as a weapon (and a warning) to other foes. The mutant hero’s classic costume is beautifully recreated, with the bright green and yellow of the bodysuit standing out within her dark brown jacket. Always enthusiastic in the heat of battle, Rogue’s face is perfectly sculpted to show off her fighting spirit. As an added bonus you can display the X-Woman in either of two of her most popular looks from the comics with alternate portrait heads!

She has been a steadfast member of various X-Men teams for years, and of course that means she’s spent quite a bit of time in the Danger Room. Ever since the early days of Marvel Comics’ mutant adventures, “X” teams have trained together in the ultra high tech facility known as the Danger Room, equipped with state of the art adaptive combat and athletics routines that challenge each participant in unique ways. The training facility has been featured prominently in X-Men comics over the years, as well as in various cartoons and the third X-Men film.
Sculpted by the legendary Erick Sosa, Rogue stands nearly 12 inches tall and is perfectly in scale (1/6) with the other Danger Room Sessions members like Wolverine, Psylocke, Cyclops, and more. Rogue makes for an impressive display piece on her own and looks even better alongside other Marvel inspired Fine Art Statues from Kotobukiya!
As an added bonus you can display the X-Woman in either of two of her most popular looks from the comics with alternate portrait heads!

Available November 2015

And on a related topic, have you seen the 6 Porn Parody Costumes That Give Real Superhero Movies a Run for Their Money? Superheroes mean big business, and it seems like everyone is finding new ways to cash in. In the picture above, the Rogue on the left (from Wolverine XXX) has the quintessential colors and leather jacket that the Southern belle is seen wearing in the comic books whereas the Rogue in the X-Men films (played by Anna Paquin) looks nothing like Rogue at all.

In the picture above, Elizabeth Olsen’s updated Scarlet Witch (on the right) with combat boots and a penchant for black as seen in the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” looks nothing like the Wanda Maximoff we know from the comics. On the other hand, you can’t deny that the parody version on the left bears a more striking resemblance to the Scarlet Witch we are most familiar with. Same goes for her speedster brother, Quicksilver (see picture below). Not only is his costume true to the green version from the comics, the appropriate pose and elaborate lighting was used for the porn parody. He’s giving Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past) a real run for their money, costume-wise.

Then there are the girls from DC comics – Catwoman, Supergirl and Wonder Woman. Check out the porn parody versions on the left versus the film versions on the right. Which is more true to the comic books? Very interesting indeed.

Just some observations ;p I’m not saying you should check out the films LOL

Review ThreeA / 3A Lost Planet 2 1/6th scale Mercenary 12-inch Action Figure by Ted Menten

Lost Planet 2 is a third-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom. The game is the sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, taking place ten years after the events of the first game, on the same fictional planet.

This is ThreeA’s first offering from their Lost Planet series, the 1/6th Mercenary from Lost planet 2. This toy blog post is specially brought to you by Ted Menten, who has offered to review the ThreeA Mercenary figure since I didn’t pre-order it.

From Ted:
I confess that I am not a gamer and was unfamiliar with “Lost Planet” but I am a bit of a Steampunk fan and the preview images had a strong Steampunk feel to them. So I crossed my fingers and hoped the figure would be at least as good as the preview photos.

To my great delight, this figure is beyond my expectations. The attention to detail is terrific. Even the front and back panels are wired to allow them to have movement as if blown by the wind. Packaging is a black box with a clear plastic inner tray to hold the figure.

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures.
Click on them for bigger and better views.

One of the better features is the head which comes with a completely separate breather mask. Preview images always showed him wearing the mask so I wondered if it was sculpted as part of the head. All the uniform materials are the “real thing” — actual fabric and leather and quite elaborate in construction.

Articulation is good as is his balance despite the heavy back unit. No stand was needed to photograph the figure. This figure has quickly become one of my favorites.
ThreeA Capcom Lost Planet 2 Mercenary 12-inch fully articulated figure comes with fabric outfit, belt, pouch, gauntlet, boot cover, hand gun holder, mask, body armor (consisting of 10 parts), boots, machine gun, hand gun, darts x 7 pieces, 4 pairs of hands (relaxed, fist, gun holding, pointing)
Here are two close-up shots of the head with and without the breathing mask.
Ted has added two images of the figure in settings from the story — one winter and one summer. Click on the pictures for a bigger and better view 🙂

TED MENTEN BIO: Some older collectors may remember Ted from his days as an online reporter for His live postings on 9/11 were some of the first to hit the Internet and quickly went global. He and his fellow reporter, Tom Cooper, posted live for several days following the attack.

THANKS again Ted for the great review and pictures 🙂

Preview ZCWO 1/6 scale "Rise of the Legend" Wong Fei-hung 12-inch collectible action figure

Rise of the Legend (Chinese: 黃飛鴻之英雄有夢) is an upcoming Hong Kong-Chinese kung-fu action film directed by Roy Chow and written by To Chi-long. The film stars Sammo Hung, Peng Yuyan, Wang Luodan and Jing Boran. On August 19, 2013 it was announced that Edko Films, Irresistible Delta and BDI Films were teaming up for an upcoming action film based on life stories of the legendary martial arts master Wong Fei-hung.

Wong Fei-hung (9 July 1847 — 25 March 1924) was a Chinese martial artist, physician, acupuncturist, and revolutionary, who became a folk hero and the subject of numerous films and television series. He is considered an expert in the Hung Gar style of Chinese martial arts. As one of the best known Hung Gar practitioners in modern times, Wong and his martial arts lineage have received a lot of attention.

At the age of five, Wong Fei-hung started learning Hung Gar (also called Hung Fist) from his father, Wong Kei-ying. When he was 13, he learnt the essentials of the Iron Wire Fist and sling from Lam Fuk-sing (林福成; Lin Fucheng), a student of “Iron Bridge Three” Leung Kwan, after meeting Lam in Douzhixiang during a martial arts street performance. He learnt the Shadowless Kick from Sung Fai-tong (宋輝鏜; Song Huitang) later.
These are preview pictures released by ZCWO of their upcoming 1/6 scale “Rise of the Legend” Wong Fei-hung 12-inch collectible action figure. This is the latest portrayal of Wong Fei-hung on the big screen. Jet Li did it for me in “Once Upon a Time in China (1991)”. Jackie Chan also played the master twice, “Drunken Master (1978)” and “Drunken Master II (1994)”.

Check out Phicen Limited 1/6th scale Lady Action 12-inch female figure from Captain Action line

Captain Action was an action figure created in 1966, equipped with a wardrobe of costumes allowing him to become Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Captain America, Aquaman, the Phantom, The Lone Ranger (and Tonto), Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Sgt. Fury, Steve Canyon, and the Green Hornet. Captain Action was the Ideal Toy Company’s answer to Hasbro’s G.I. Joe—although the protagonist dolls of both toy lines were created and designed by the same toy-and-idea man, Stan Weston.

After just a few years, the Captain Action line declined in sales, in 1968, Ideal Toys discontinued it. Though Captain Action was produced for only two and a half years, the characters and accessories have become amongst the most fondly remembered, and expensive to obtain on the collector’s market, action figures of the era.

After 30 years off the market, Captain Action was revived in 1998, by retro toy company Playing Mantis (Captain Action and Dr EVil posted HERE with Group pictures HERE). In addition to Captain Action and Dr. Evil, costumes released boxed with Captain Action figure were The Lone Ranger (in red and black outfit), Tonto, Flash Gordon, his never-before-made nemesis Ming the Merciless (with a new flesh-tone Dr. Evil figure) – posted HERE, The Green Hornet, and his never-before-made sidekick Kato (pictures HERE with updated / improved body version HERE). The line met with lackluster sales, and carded costumes-only were issued separately: Green Hornet, Kato, Lone Ranger (in blue outfit), Tonto (Lone Ranger and Tonto posted HERE), The Phantom (pictures HERE), and his never-before-made enemy Kabai Singh (posted on my toy blog HERE). Also revived was Action Boy (now called Kid Action, due to Hasbro owning the rights to the name Action Man – pictures posted HERE) and retro long box packaging for Captain Action and Dr. Evil. The changes made little difference in the general sales and the second coming of Captain Action ended in 2000.

Since 2005 Captain Action Enterprises holds the licensing rights and has been producing an array of new merchandize, including statues, toys, comics, trading cards, collectibles and apparel. In March 2011, Round 2 Corp. and Captain Action Enterprises announced plans for a redesigned 1/6 scale Captain Action figure.

Now for the latest cooperative effort between Phicen Limited, GoHero, and Executive Replicas: Lady Action from the Captain Action comic series comes alive in 1:6 scale!

Review 1: Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop "DREDD" 12-inch figure

It’s finally here. This is the highly anticipated Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop “DREDD” 12-inch figure I’ve been waiting months for. When the preview pictures were first released, it created quite a bit of hype and excitement all over the internet, with dealers and collectors scrambling to get their pre-orders in before this figure gets pulled off the shelves for obvious reasons. Good thing it wasn’t and now we get to enjoy this figure for what it is: a great product with fine attention to details and true representation of a certain Judge. This figure is marvelous to behold and must be examined up close to be truly appreciated. What makes the deal even sweeter is the price since it’s nowhere near the pricing of Hot Toys and Sideshow’s products.

Some figures have been pulled of the shelves before and I was most afraid that this figure would suffer the same fate. In January 2012, DID released pictures of their upcoming Steve Jobs 12-inch figure (check out the pictures HERE) and it made so much waves that it even made the news (see my post HERE). Apple came down hard and DID caved (DID says “iQuit!” Steve Jobs 12-inch Figure a No-Go! Product Withdrawn, Apple Wins posted HERE). I’m just glad this figure made it to production and is now in my hands 🙂

Art Figures really came on the scene when they released their Art-Figures: SAVES “Punisher: War Zone” 12-inch Figure. A lot of people didn’t expect it to be that good and were caught by surprise. It then became a mad rush to get hold of the figure but due to the limited pre-order numbers, the supply was just not able to meet the sudden surge in demand. I was one of those who had pre-ordered and was able to get the figure and review it on my toy blog (see the posts HERE and HERE). IMHO I think Art Figures has upped the ante with the release of this Artistic Interpretation Heavy Armoured Special Cop figure. The choice of materials used and the mix of textures really brings out the authenticity of this figure.

Scroll down to see all the pictures.
Click on them for bigger and better views.

The box packaging has no name on it so you wouldn’t have guessed the product unless you had prior knowledge of it.
The box opens to reveal the Heavy Armoured Special Cop figure in the packing foam tray with all his gear and accessories including his machine pistol. The odd thing is the figure comes without his helmet even though the character never removes his helmet. What’s even weirder is that the head sculpt looks like a lego head. Lego’s humanoid mini-figures are one of the most iconic toys worldwide, but they have a strange design feature: a hole on the top of their heads. Why this hole exists is a mystery to most people. That hole can stick to a Lego brick, but why would anyone ever want to stick a humanoid head to a Lego brick? The reason: Lego put the hole on the top of the head just in case any kid got one of the heads stuck in their throat. That way they would be able to keep breathing. More on Judge Dredd’s lego head later.
Here’s the Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop “DREDD” 12-inch figure with all his gear and accessories laid out.
Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop “Dredd” comes dressed in his costume of Leather combat jacket, Leather combat pants, Combat gloves, Tactical knee pads, and Combat boots. I prefer to leave the Helmet with visor on his head as that’s how it was meant to be.

The 1/6 scale Leather combat jacket with elbow pads and pants are nice and fits the figure very well. I especially like the mixture of materials i.e. it’s not all just leather but different textures sewn / stitched together. The Combat gloves are the soft type with the bendable hands inside them. It’s good that we don’t have to put on the gloves ourselves. On the left glove sleeve there is a plastic window with some perps faces on it. I believe that’s supposed to be the mini computer where Heavy Armoured Special Cop “DREDD” can download and view who the bad guys are, their criminal records and history. The Tactical knee pads are part of his pants and the Combat boots are another thing of beauty.

You can put this 1/6 scale all black full leather suit on any 12-inch biker figure and he’ll look really cool and bada$$ wearing it.
Here are some close-up shots / pictures of the Art Figures 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop head sculpt with the knob on top. In the 2012 science fiction action film “DREDD”, Karl Urban stars as Judge Dredd, a law enforcer given the power of judge, jury and executioner in a vast, dystopic metropolis called Mega-City One that lies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Urban found the role challenging because the character never removes his helmet. We never got to see Karl Urban’s face so why Art Figures decided to release this figure with a removable helmet is beyond me. And the knob on top of his head is for the 1/6 scale helmet to sit nicely and firmly without moving about.
When the 1995 Judge Dredd film was released in theaters, many Dredd fans were disappointed and horrified when Sylvester Stallone who starred as Judge Dredd removed his helmet. The helmet is the most striking feature of the Dredd costume in the comic books and he never removed it. A 12-inch Judge Dredd figure from the 1995 movie was released by Medicom toys under their RAH (Real Action Heroes) line. It was one of the first 1/6 scale figures I picked up and you can see the pictures I posted on my toy blog HERE
This Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop “DREDD” 12-inch figure  comes with battle scars on his neck. This would be almost hidden from view once you put on the Bulletproof vest with Name plate but it’s still a nice touch to stay true to the film. Attention to details like this makes me happy 🙂
DREDD wears a black sleeveless T-shirt under his leather jacket. Check out his pants and see how the different materials are stitched together. Pretty neat!
Here’s DREDD standing in front of his gear and accessories
Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop “Dredd” 12-inch figure comes with the following 1/6 scale accessories: Bulletproof vest with Name plate, Tactical shoulder pads, double magazine holders x 2, Stick grenade with Holder, belt with eagle buckle, Tactical folding knife, Gas mask in pouch, Smoke grenade with holder, First-aid kit, spare pistol clips / magazines x 3, Machine pistol with Holster.
Here’s another look at the 1/6 scale accessories with gas mask removed from the pouch and grenades removed from their holders.

NEXT: Art Figures AF-015 1/6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop “DREDD” 12-inch figure all suited up!
